Broadhead Instructions

HOW TO HANDLE A SWHACKER BROADHEAD:

  • Never use fingers to tighten broadheads to an arrow shaft; always use a safety device or wrench.
  • Always store the assembled broadheads in a quiver. Pre-cut the foam in your quiver so the broadhead can be inserted and removed freely. The foam should not put any pressure against the opening blades during storage as this will cause the shrink band to stretch and possibly fall off.
  • Always inspect the broadhead prior to shooting. If the shrink band is missing or damaged, replace it!
  • Never shoot a broadhead without either a shrink band or Hunt-Ready plug securing the blades.

HOW TO INSTALL REPLACEMENT BLADES:

Insert the blades into the slot of the ferrule. Secure in place with the set screw. Ensure that the blades rotate freely from open to closed.

HOW TO REMOVE/INSTALL BLADES FOR HYBRID AND 3 BLADE MODELS:

(#257, #258, #259, #260): Locate the blade lock ring at the base of the broadhead and pull straight back to release both bleeder blades and expose the main blade pin. Push the pin through and out of ferrule to release the main blades. Reverse procedure to reinstall the blades.

CAUTION: Swhacker blades are EXTREMELY SHARP. Serious injury can occur if handled improperly. To avoid injury, please follow the instructions carefully.

MODEL #200, #261 #269 BLADE LOCK FEATURE:

Practice Position: the blade lock screw, located in-line with the wing blades, should be fully inserted and tightened, locking the blades closed.

Hunting Position: using the micro-driver included with your Blade Lock broadheads, loosen and remove the blade lock screw. Store blade lock screw in storage hole at base of ferrule. Option A – Shrink Bands: Install the shrink band around the ferrule and tighten, applying heat if necessary to shrink the band to keep blades closed. Option B – Hunt-Ready Plug: 1. Insert smaller portion of plug into opening. 2. Pull plug through until thick portion is flush with head. 3. Trim off thicker portion of plug on other side. 4. Save unused portion. Get 2 uses per plug.

HOW TO INSTALL REPLACEMENT SHRINK BANDS:

Place a single band over the tip with the blades fully enclosed in the slot. Slide the band down the ferrule to the retaining groove. The blades may move slightly. If the band does not stay in the retaining groove, use a heat source such as a pocket lighter or a hair dryer to shrink the band down. Care should be taken not to overheat the band.

HOW TO INSTALL REPLACEMENT O-RINGS (#239, #240):

Carefully roll the O-ring over the tip and around the closed blades until the O-ring rests against the ferrule just in front of the set screw.

CAUTION: Do not use a shrink band in place of an O-ring, use only the supplied O-ring or replacement O-rings from Swhacker. Only use O-rings on all-steel 100 Gr. heads. Do not use O-rings on other Swhacker models. Always check O-rings for cracks prior to use. To avoid injury, please follow the instructions carefully.
